Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Procenta is a sterile, decellularized, and dehydrated human placental disc allograft developed by Lucina BioSciences. It is derived from donated human gestational tissue and is processed to maintain the structural integrity of the extracellular matrix (ECM) while removing cellular components to minimize immunogenicity. Procenta is primarily indicated for the management of Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS), a serious pregnancy complication where the placenta attaches too deeply to the uterine wall, often leading to life-threatening hemorrhage. It functions as a biological scaffold that provides structural support and a microenvironment conducive to tissue repair and regeneration during surgical intervention for PAS. The FDA has granted Procenta Orphan Drug and Fast Track designations for this indication, reflecting its potential to address a significant unmet medical need in maternal health.
