Tolnaftate is a synthetic thiocarbamate that acts by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase (squalene monooxygenase), a key step in the biosynthesis of ergosterol, which is essential for fungal cell membrane integrity. Undecylenic acid is a fatty acid that acts as a fungistatic agent, disrupting fungal growth and membrane function.
