ProCP-1

ProCP-1 is a recombinant human procarboxypeptidase B (specifically the pancreatic isoform, CPB1) developed for the treatment of acute pancreatitis. It acts as a pro-enzyme that, when activated to carboxypeptidase B, specifically cleaves the C-terminal arginine residues from the anaphylatoxins C3a and C5a, thereby inactivating them. By neutralizing these potent inflammatory mediators, ProCP-1 aims to reduce the systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and multi-organ failure associated with severe acute pancreatitis. The drug was developed by the Dutch biotechnology company Pro-CP B.V. and reached Phase 1/2 clinical testing.
