Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Proderm (marketed as Pro-Q in the United States) is a topical barrier repair emollient formulated as a foam or mousse, specifically designed to address skin barrier impairment in patients with atopic dermatitis. It functions by enhancing the hydration of the stratum corneum and reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Clinical evaluations using electrical impedance and other non-invasive biophysical methods have demonstrated that Proderm can normalize skin hydration and structural integrity in atopic individuals. The product is typically used as a non-steroidal maintenance therapy to manage xerosis and prevent inflammatory flares by restoring the skin's natural protective function.
