Overview
Profluss® is a nutraceutical and phytotherapeutic combination product developed by Konpharma (Italy). It is specifically formulated for the management of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostatic chronic inflammation (PCI). The product contains three primary active ingredients: *Serenoa repens* (saw palmetto extract), lycopene, and selenium. *Serenoa repens* is known to exert anti-androgenic effects by inhibiting 5-alpha-reductase and modulating androgen receptors, while lycopene and selenium provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory support to the prostatic tissue. Profluss® has been evaluated in several Italian clinical trials, including the multicentre 'FLOG' study, where it was investigated both as a monotherapy and in combination with alpha-blockers like tamsulosin to reduce inflammation and improve urinary symptoms.
