profoxydim

Profoxydim is a post-emergence herbicide belonging to the cyclohexenone (cyclic ketone) class, primarily used for the control of annual and perennial grassy weeds in crops such as rice, soybeans, and tobacco[1][7]. Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), an enzyme essential for fatty acid biosynthesis in plants. By blocking this enzyme, profoxydim disrupts cell membrane formation and other vital cellular processes in susceptible grasses[10]. It is not intended or approved for pharmaceutical use in humans or animals. Profoxydim has been associated with certain hazards including skin sensitization, suspected carcinogenicity, and reproductive toxicity[2].
