Overview

Progenza is an allogeneic, "off-the-shelf" cell therapy candidate developed by Cambium Bio (formerly Cambium Medical Technologies and Regeneus) for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. The product consists of a synergistic combination of allogeneic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and their secretome, which contains a rich array of cytokines and growth factors. Administered via intra-articular injection, Progenza aims to reduce joint inflammation and promote tissue repair by modulating the immune response and inhibiting pro-inflammatory mediators such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and interleukin-1 (IL-1). The secretome component is designed to provide immediate anti-inflammatory relief, while the MSCs contribute to sustained therapeutic activity and cartilage protection. Progenza has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials, demonstrating safety and potential efficacy in reducing pain and improving joint function in patients with osteoarthritis.
