Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ProGsterol is an oral peptide-based dietary supplement and clinical-stage therapeutic candidate developed by Caregen and distributed by Virarahesh Pharmed. Its active ingredient is Deglusterol, a proprietary synthetic peptide complex composed of Adiporin (a synthetic adiponectin analog) and Deobetide (a TNF-alpha inhibitor). ProGsterol is designed to manage metabolic disorders, including prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, obesity, and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). It works by reducing insulin resistance, enhancing insulin receptor sensitivity, activating AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), and suppressing inflammatory cytokines. In March 2022, Deglusterol completed the U.S. FDA New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) notification, making it the first synthetic peptide to receive this designation.
