Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ProGyne is a multibotanical dietary supplement developed by Progena Professional Formulations, designed to support female reproductive health and alleviate symptoms associated with the menopausal transition and premenstrual syndrome (PMS). The formulation consists of a synergistic blend of ten ingredients, including standardized extracts of black cohosh (*Actaea racemosa*), dong quai, chaste tree berry (*Vitex agnus-castus*), siberian ginseng, and pomegranate. It is primarily used to manage vasomotor symptoms, such as hot flashes and night sweats, by leveraging the phytoestrogenic and neuroendocrine-modulating properties of its herbal components. ProGyne was notably evaluated in the Herbal Alternatives for Menopause (HALT) trial, a randomized clinical study comparing various botanical interventions to traditional hormone replacement therapy and placebo. While frequently marketed as a natural alternative for hormonal balance, clinical evidence has generally shown its efficacy to be comparable to placebo for the relief of climacteric complaints.
