Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PROKERA Slim is a sutureless, cryopreserved amniotic membrane (CAM) biologic device developed by Bio-Tissue (a TissueTech company) for the management of various ocular surface disorders. The product consists of a piece of cryopreserved amniotic tissue secured within a low-profile, flexible polycarbonate ring, which is inserted into the conjunctival fornix to act as a biological bandage. The amniotic membrane contains a specialized stromal matrix rich in the HC-HA/PTX3 complex, which exerts potent anti-inflammatory, anti-scarring, and anti-angiogenic effects by modulating both innate and adaptive immune responses. Additionally, it provides neurotrophic support through nerve growth factor (NGF), promoting corneal epithelial healing and nerve regeneration. PROKERA Slim is primarily indicated for moderate-to-severe dry eye disease, neurotrophic keratitis, corneal ulcers, and chemical burns, and is also utilized for ocular surface optimization prior to cataract surgery to improve biometric accuracy.
