Overview

ProLectin-F is an intravenous (IV) polysaccharide-based galectin antagonist developed by BioXyTran. It is specifically designed to treat lung fibrosis resulting from ventilator use in COVID-19 patients. The drug works by targeting the galectin fold located on the N-terminal domain (NTD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, as well as blocking galectin-driven pathways involved in organ damage and fibrotic processes. Unlike other variants in the ProLectin platform (such as ProLectin-M for early-stage COVID-19), ProLectin-F is intended for use after the virus has been eliminated to address long-term respiratory complications and organ damage.
