Overview

ProLectin-V is an investigational, intravenously administered carbohydrate-based galectin antagonist being developed by BioXyTran. It is designed to target Galectin-3, a carbohydrate-binding lectin involved in viral entry, immune regulation, and inflammatory signaling. By inhibiting Galectin-3 and potentially interacting with galectin-like folds on viral surfaces, ProLectin-V aims to block viral attachment and entry into host cells. The drug is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of viral infections and inflammatory conditions, including monkeypox, Ebola virus disease, and conjunctivitis.
