ProLipo is a proprietary pro-liposome technology designed for the efficient encapsulation and delivery of active pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmetic ingredients. Developed by IFF Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, the system consists of a concentrated mixture of phospholipids, primarily lecithin, stabilized in a liquid medium such as ethanol or polyols. When mixed with an aqueous phase, ProLipo spontaneously organizes into multilamellar liposomes that can encapsulate both lipophilic and hydrophilic molecules. This technology is engineered to enhance the solubility, stability, and bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs, while also improving topical penetration and providing a sustained release profile. It is widely utilized as a versatile vehicle in the development of advanced topical, oral, and parenteral formulations, and is a staple in pharmaceutical compounding for transdermal drug delivery.
