Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Prometic IGIV** is a 10% intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) formulation derived from human plasma, developed by ProMetic Life Sciences (now Liminal BioSciences) as a replacement therapy for patients with primary immunodeficiency diseases (PIDs) such as common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) and X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA). It provides polyvalent IgG antibodies to prevent serious bacterial infections (SBIs), with a Phase 3 trial demonstrating an SBI rate of 0.08 per patient-year, meeting FDA efficacy guidelines, alongside good tolerability at infusion rates up to 0.14 mL/kg/min. The glycine-stabilized liquid preparation ensures physiologic osmolality and virus safety through processes like solvent/detergent treatment, chromatography, and nanofiltration.[2][3][5][7]
