Overview
Promino is a patented nutritional supplement formulation designed to optimize muscle protein synthesis (MPS) and combat muscle wasting. Developed by Promino Nutritional Sciences (formerly Element Nutritional Sciences), the product is based on over 20 years of clinical research led by Dr. Robert Wolfe at the University of Arkansas. The formulation consists of a specific, optimized ratio of essential amino acids (EAAs) that are more effective than whey protein at triggering the mTORC1 pathway, the primary biological regulator of muscle growth. Unlike whole proteins, the free-form amino acids in Promino are rapidly absorbed without requiring digestion, providing a faster anabolic stimulus. It is primarily marketed for the prevention and management of sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss) and for enhancing muscle recovery and performance in athletes.
