Promus Element Plus is a drug-eluting coronary stent system developed by Boston Scientific. It is a combination product consisting of a platinum chromium (PtCr) alloy stent platform coated with a polymer matrix that releases everolimus, an immunosuppressive agent. The system is indicated for improving luminal diameter in patients with symptomatic heart disease or silent ischemia caused by de novo lesions in native coronary arteries, including patients with diabetes mellitus. Everolimus, the active pharmaceutical component, functions as an mTOR inhibitor, which suppresses the proliferative response of the arterial wall to the stent, thereby reducing the risk of neointimal hyperplasia and restenosis. The 'Plus' version features an enhanced delivery system, available in Monorail or Over-The-Wire configurations, designed to improve deliverability and ease of use compared to the original Promus Element system.
