Propel DBM is a demineralized bone matrix (DBM) product line developed by NuVasive (now a part of Globus Medical) for use in spinal fusion and other orthopedic procedures. Classified as a human-derived bone matrix implant, it is used as a bone graft substitute to fill skeletal voids or gaps that are not intrinsic to the stability of the bony structure. The product line includes various form factors such as fibers, gel, and putty, designed to meet different surgical handling requirements. Propel DBM functions through osteoconduction, providing a physical scaffold for new bone growth, and osteoinduction, utilizing the natural growth factors (such as bone morphogenetic proteins) retained within the demineralized matrix to recruit and differentiate mesenchymal stem cells into osteoblasts.
