Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The **Propel Nova Sinus Implant**, later renamed **Propel Contour Sinus Implant**, is a bioabsorbable, drug-eluting sinus implant developed for use in adult patients ≥18 years of age to maintain sinus ostial patency following sinus surgery and to locally deliver the corticosteroid **mometasone furoate**. It is primarily indicated to reduce post-operative inflammation, scarring, and the need for further intervention in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis. The implant delivers sustained release of **mometasone furoate** directly to the sinus mucosa over ~30 days as the device gradually bioabsorbs over 30–45 days. Its mechanism combines physical stenting to separate/dilate mucosal tissue with localized corticosteroid anti-inflammatory action. The implant was developed by Intersect ENT and is now manufactured/marketed by Medtronic.
