Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ProphaLytic-Vc (PVC) is an oral, solid-dose bacteriophage therapy being developed by PhagePro for the prevention of cholera. It consists of a cocktail of three lytic bacteriophages specifically designed to target and kill *Vibrio cholerae*, the causative agent of cholera, without disrupting the host's gastrointestinal microbiome. Intended for prophylactic use in high-risk communities, PVC aims to provide immediate protection and prevent the spread of the disease, particularly in the two-week window before cholera vaccines become effective. The formulation is designed to be stable in hot and humid conditions without refrigeration, making it suitable for resource-limited settings in Asia and Africa.
