Overview

This is a combination of two intravenous drugs commonly used in critical care and anesthesia settings. **Propofol** is a rapid-onset, short-duration general anesthetic and sedative-hypnotic agent that acts primarily by potentiating the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) at GABA-A receptors in the central nervous system, leading to CNS depression and sedation[1][4][6]. It is widely used for induction and maintenance of general anesthesia as well as for sedation in intensive care units. **Noradrenaline** (also known as norepinephrine) is an endogenous catecholamine with potent vasoconstrictor properties; it acts mainly on alpha-adrenergic receptors to increase vascular tone and blood pressure, making it a first-line vasopressor for hypotensive states such as septic shock[3]. The combination may be administered together in critically ill patients who require both deep sedation/anesthesia (propofol) and hemodynamic support due to hypotension (noradrenaline). There are no unique brand names or fixed-dose formulations combining these two agents; they are co-administered intravenously according to clinical need.
