Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Developed by researchers at the University of Talca, this topical 3% propolis spray is an adjuvant therapy for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. Propolis is a natural resinous substance produced by honeybees with known antimicrobial and healing properties. In clinical settings, this specific formulation has demonstrated the ability to promote wound area reduction and increase connective tissue deposition. Its mechanism of action involves anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, specifically by reducing levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), increasing interleukin-10 (IL-10), and improving glutathione ratios within the wound tissue.
