Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Proproten-100 is a release-active over-the-counter (OTC) medication developed by Materia Medica Holding for the treatment of alcohol dependence and alcohol withdrawal syndrome. The active ingredient consists of affinity-purified antibodies to the brain-specific protein S-100, prepared in ultra-low doses using a proprietary release-active technology. The product is designed to reduce alcohol craving and prevent relapse by modulating the functional activity of the S-100 protein, which is involved in metabolic and information-processing pathways in the brain, particularly within the hypothalamus and hippocampus. It is indicated for the management of both psychiatric symptoms (such as anxiety, irritability, and insomnia) and somatic/vegetative symptoms (such as tremors, headache, and tachycardia) associated with mild to moderate alcohol withdrawal (hangover) syndrome. Proproten-100 is available in sublingual tablet and oral drop formulations and is approved for use in Russia and several other markets.
