Prosed

Prosed is a multi-ingredient oral medication used to alleviate symptoms of lower urinary tract infections and inflammation, such as pain, burning, and frequency. It combines several therapeutic classes: methenamine and benzoic acid act as urinary anti-infectives (methenamine converts to formaldehyde in acidic urine); phenyl salicylate provides analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects; hyoscyamine sulfate is an anticholinergic that reduces bladder spasms (hypermotility); and methylene blue serves as a mild antiseptic. It is primarily indicated for cystitis, urethritis, and trigonitis. While the brand name Prosed/DS has been discontinued in the United States, similar multi-ingredient formulations remain available for symptomatic relief of urinary tract conditions.
