Overview
Prosetin is an orally administered, brain-penetrant small molecule inhibitor of mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase kinase (MAP4K), specifically targeting MAP4K4. It was developed through a collaboration between Project ALS and Columbia University to protect motor neurons by reducing endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and inflammation. Prosetin has demonstrated the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, rescue motor neurons in cellular and animal models of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and has shown safety in preclinical studies. The drug is currently under investigation for the treatment of ALS, with clinical trials ongoing. ProJenX was established to further develop and commercialize prosetin for neurodegenerative diseases[1][2][3][4][5][7][8].
