Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Prostalyn is an Ayurvedic bi-herbal medicine developed by East India Pharmaceutical Works in collaboration with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (CSIR-IICB). It is formulated as an oral capsule containing extracts of Surabhinimba (*Murraya koenigii* leaf) and Gokantaka (*Tribulus terrestris* fruit, also known as Gokshur). Prostalyn is indicated for the management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or enlarged prostate, helping to improve urinary flow rate, ensure complete bladder emptying, and relieve symptoms of urinary obstruction and incontinence. The active carbazole alkaloid mahanine from Surabhinimba induces apoptosis in prostatic cells to inhibit abnormal proliferation, while Gokantaka provides nephroprotective, urinary antiseptic, and antispasmodic effects.
