Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Prostaphlin is an injectable beta-lactam antibiotic containing oxacillin, a penicillinase-resistant penicillin. Marketed by Delbert Pharma, a French pharmaceutical company specializing in safeguarding essential medicines, Prostaphlin is used to treat serious infections caused by penicillinase-producing staphylococci. The drug exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). It is particularly indicated for infectious diseases within the respiratory and pneumology therapeutic areas, as well as other systemic staphylococcal infections. Delbert Pharma acquired the product to ensure its continued availability in the therapeutic arsenal.
