Overview

Prostarine is a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) that was developed by GTx, Inc. for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Originally discovered by researchers at the University of Tennessee, Prostarine was designed to selectively bind to the androgen receptor, aiming to reduce prostate volume while avoiding the side effects typically associated with non-selective androgen therapies. The compound was part of GTx's early pipeline in the mid-2000s but did not progress into late-stage clinical development as the company shifted its focus toward other SARM candidates such as enobosarm.
