Prostreat is an experimental cancer therapeutic developed by NucleoBio Inc. in collaboration with Dr. Olorunseun Ogunwobi at Hunter College of The City University of New York (CUNY) for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). The drug utilizes synthetic analogs of microRNAs as its active ingredient, representing a novel modality designed to target the ARV7 (Androgen Receptor Variant 7) mutant protein. ARV7 is a common driver of resistance and treatment failure in aggressive prostate cancer. Preclinical studies completed in early 2018 indicated that Prostreat inhibits tumor growth, proliferation, migration, and metastasis with superior efficacy compared to standard-of-care agents such as enzalutamide, abiraterone, and apalutamide. Toxicology studies in animal models have demonstrated a favorable safety profile with no significant toxic side effects.
