Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Protears are ophthalmic eye drops approved in the European Union as a medical device for the treatment of dry eye disease. The product contains an ophthalmic bacterial lysate of Latilactobacillus sakei, which functions as a postbiotic. Clinical studies have demonstrated that Protears significantly reduce the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease by suppressing the inflammatory response on the ocular surface, specifically by decreasing tear levels of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6, TNFα, and IFNγ.
