prothrombin complex

Prothrombinex-VF is a human plasma-derived three-factor prothrombin complex concentrate (PCC) manufactured by CSL Behring. It contains concentrated vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors II (prothrombin), IX, and X, along with antithrombin III and heparin sodium, but notably contains minimal amounts of factor VII. It is primarily indicated for the rapid reversal of warfarin-induced anticoagulation (warfarin-associated coagulopathy) in patients experiencing major bleeding or requiring urgent surgery. Additionally, it is used for the treatment and perioperative prophylaxis of bleeding in patients with congenital deficiencies of factors II, IX, or X when specific single-factor concentrates are unavailable. By replenishing these essential components of the coagulation cascade, Prothrombinex-VF restores hemostatic potential and restores the patient's ability to form stable blood clots.
