Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Protooth is a novel fast-setting calcium silicate cement, sometimes formulated with fluoride, designed for applications in vital pulp therapy within dentistry. It is characterized by a rapid initial setting time (as fast as 2 minutes for Ultrafast Protooth), the ability to release fluoride, and a strong capability for apatite formation. These properties, combined with its favorable biocompatibility, make it a promising material for procedures such as pulpotomy and direct pulp capping in both primary and permanent molars. Clinical studies have evaluated its success in treating conditions like symptomatic irreversible pulpitis and deep carious lesions, often comparing it favorably to Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA).
