Protopine is a natural isoquinoline alkaloid found in various plants, including opium poppy, Corydalis, and Fumaria officinalis. It exhibits a broad spectrum of pharmacological activities, including analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antioxidative, neuroprotective, anti-parasitic, anti-helminthic, anti-platelet aggregation, vasodilatory, anticholinesterase, anti-addictive, and anticonvulsant effects.
