PRV-101

PRV-101 is an investigational polyvalent inactivated vaccine designed to prevent acute coxsackievirus B (CVB) infections and potentially delay or prevent the onset of type 1 diabetes (T1D) and celiac disease. The vaccine targets five CVB serotypes and aims to induce high titers of neutralizing antibodies against these viruses. By preventing CVB infection, PRV-101 seeks to interrupt a putative infectious trigger implicated in the autoimmune destruction of pancreatic beta cells (leading to T1D) and intestinal cells (potentially leading to celiac disease). Developed under license from Vactech Oy by Provention Bio (now a Sanofi subsidiary), it is the first CVB-targeted vaccine candidate to reach human clinical trials. Phase 1 studies have demonstrated favorable safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity profiles[1][2][4][5][7].
