PRX-101 is an investigational, orally administered small molecule L-type calcium channel blocker being developed by Phocus Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT). The drug is designed to act as a potent and selective inhibitor of L-type calcium channels, particularly within the atrioventricular (AV) node, to slow electrical conduction and terminate the re-entrant tachyarrhythmias characteristic of PSVT. PRX-101 is intended to provide a rapid-onset, patient-mediated oral therapy for the acute termination of PSVT episodes, potentially offering an alternative to hospital-based intravenous treatments. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in healthy volunteers.
