Overview
PRX-112 is an orally-administered enzyme replacement therapy for Gaucher disease. It consists of plant cell-expressed glucocerebrosidase (GCD) naturally enclosed within carrot cells. The carrot cell's cellulose wall protects the enzyme against degradation in the digestive tract, allowing for oral delivery of the active enzyme into the patient's bloodstream. This approach aims to improve patient quality of life by enabling oral administration rather than traditional intravenous infusion.
