Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**PRX012-TfR** is a preclinical antibody therapeutic candidate targeting the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. It is a surrogate version of PRX012 engineered to modulate the transferrin receptor (TfR1), allowing enhanced delivery of the anti-amyloid beta antibody into the brain. Initial preclinical studies demonstrated substantially increased brain exposure and rapid targeting of amyloid-beta plaques in animal models, with early data suggesting a significantly lower risk of amyloid-related imaging abnormality-edema (ARIA) compared to existing anti-amyloid beta antibodies. PRX012-TfR is developed as a subcutaneous, once-monthly therapy, intended to improve efficacy and safety in Alzheimer’s disease by both increasing brain targeting and minimizing ARIA risk.
