Overview

PSA-3 is a peptide-based cancer vaccine candidate developed by the University of Maryland for the treatment of prostate cancer. It consists of a specific 10-amino acid epitope (VISNDVCAQV) derived from the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) protein, specifically residues 154-163. The vaccine is designed to be HLA-A2 restricted, aiming to stimulate a cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) response against tumor cells that express PSA. In clinical trials, PSA-3 is typically administered in combination with the adjuvant Montanide ISA-51 (NSC 675756) to enhance its immunogenicity. Development has primarily focused on patients with biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer following radical prostatectomy.
