PSB229 is a brain-targeted monoclonal antibody being developed by Sound Biologics for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other neurological disorders. It is designed to engage and clear amyloid-beta (Aβ) species in the brain, a key pathological hallmark of Alzheimer's. To overcome the challenge of the blood-brain barrier (BBB), PSB229 utilizes a brain-targeting mechanism that targets Transferrin Receptor 1 (TfR1), which facilitates the active transport of the antibody into the central nervous system. This approach is intended to enhance the delivery and therapeutic efficacy of the anti-amyloid antibody within the brain. PSB229 is currently in the IND-enabling phase of preclinical development.
