Overview

PSD503 is a topical vaginal gel containing phenylephrine at a 20% weight/weight (w/w) concentration, developed by Plethora Solutions for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women. As a small molecule alpha-adrenergic agonist, the drug targets alpha-adrenergic receptors to increase urethral tone, thereby providing symptomatic relief from urinary leakage. It is administered as a controlled-dose gel applied to the anterior vaginal wall near the urethral sphincter. Although Phase II clinical trials demonstrated efficacy with a median 54% reduction in pad weight and a favorable safety profile with minimal systemic absorption, the development program was terminated early due to challenges in patient recruitment.
