Overview

Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteriophage IHMA-2121771-2 is a specific, live bacteriophage that targets the bacterium *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*. [4, 6] It is one of three active components in BX004, a phage cocktail therapy developed by BiomX Inc. [1, 3, 4] The combination product, BX004, which contains IHMA-2121771-2, is administered by inhalation and is being investigated for the treatment of chronic pulmonary infections caused by *P. aeruginosa* in patients with cystic fibrosis. [1, 7] The U.S. FDA granted Orphan Drug Designation to the three-phage mixture for this indication in December 2023.
