Overview

pSG2.HIVconsv DNA is an investigational prophylactic HIV vaccine developed by the University of Oxford. It is a plasmid DNA vaccine encoding the HIVconsv immunogen, which consists of 14 highly conserved regions from the Gag and Pol proteins of multiple HIV-1 clades. The goal is to induce robust, cross-clade T-cell responses—particularly CD8+ T cells—that target functionally conserved elements of the virus, thereby overcoming challenges posed by HIV's antigenic diversity. The vaccine has been evaluated in phase 1 clinical trials as part of heterologous prime-boost regimens (with ChAdV63 and MVA vectors), demonstrating safety, good tolerability, and high immunogenicity in healthy adults[1][4][5][6]. Its primary indication is prevention or control of HIV infection.
