Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ELE-101 is a patent-protected, synthetic intravenous formulation of psilocin benzoate, developed to provide rapid, robust, and lasting antidepressant effects in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). Psilocin is the active metabolite of psilocybin. By delivering psilocin directly via IV as its benzoate salt, ELE-101 offers more consistent and controllable drug delivery compared to oral formulations of psilocybin. This results in a rapid onset of action and significantly shorter treatment duration—patients are typically ready for discharge within approximately two hours after dosing. The compound has demonstrated dose-proportional pharmacokinetics and reliable induction of high-intensity but short-duration psychedelic experiences. Clinical studies have shown that ELE-101 is well-tolerated with mostly mild and transient adverse events reported[1][2][3][4][5]. The drug was originally developed by Eleusis Therapeutics before being acquired by Beckley Psytech[4]. Its development aims to address limitations seen with oral psychedelics such as variable absorption and prolonged clinic time.
