Psilocybin + risperidone is a combination of two pharmacologically active compounds. Psilocybin is a classic serotonergic psychedelic that acts primarily as an agonist at the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor, producing hallucinogenic and perceptual effects. Risperidone is a second-generation (atypical) antipsychotic that functions mainly as an antagonist at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors, used in the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other psychiatric conditions. When administered together, risperidone attenuates or blocks the psychedelic effects of psilocybin in a dose-dependent manner by antagonizing the 5-HT2A receptor—the primary target for psilocybin’s psychoactive action[1][2][4]. This combination has been studied experimentally to investigate drug-drug interactions between psychedelics and antipsychotics.
