PSMA-914 is a dual-modality (hybrid) imaging agent designed for the detection and surgical management of prostate cancer. It is derived from the scaffold of the established PET tracer PSMA-11, incorporating both a chelator (HBED-CC) for radiolabeling with Gallium-68 and a near-infrared fluorescent dye (IRDye800CW). This hybrid design allows for preoperative staging and lesion localization via PET/CT imaging, followed by real-time intraoperative visualization of tumor margins and lymph node metastases using fluorescence-guided surgery. The molecule specifically targets the Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA), also known as glutamate carboxypeptidase II, which is highly overexpressed on the surface of prostate cancer cells.
