Overview

PSMA-B is a novel peptide ligand that binds with high affinity to the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), a cell surface protein highly expressed on most prostate cancer cells. Developed as part of ongoing research into targeted diagnostic and therapeutic agents for prostate cancer, PSMA-B is designed to preferentially target prostate cancer cells, enabling both imaging (diagnosis) and delivery of therapies such as radiopharmaceuticals or chemotherapeutic agents directly to tumor sites. This theranostic approach aims to improve specificity and efficacy while minimizing off-target toxicity. The development of PSMA ligands like PSMA-B builds on the success of other clinically approved radiolabeled PSMA-targeting agents used in PET imaging and treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer[9].
