PSMA-SIR-T is an investigational PSMA-targeted radiopharmaceutical therapy developed by Sirtex Medical for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). The agent consists of a targeting ligand specific for the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) conjugated to the beta-emitting radioisotope Yttrium-90 (Y-90). By binding to PSMA-expressing tumor cells, PSMA-SIR-T delivers localized ionizing radiation to induce DNA damage and cell death in prostate cancer lesions while sparing healthy tissue. This therapeutic approach is being evaluated in clinical trials to assess safety, biodistribution, and anti-tumor activity in patients who have failed prior lines of therapy, representing an expansion of Sirtex's Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT) technology into targeted radioligand therapy.
