Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PSMA-targeted PET ligands are a class of radiolabeled small molecules or antibodies designed to bind specifically to prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), also known as glutamate carboxypeptidase II (GCPII) or folate hydrolase 1 (FOLH1). These ligands are labeled with positron-emitting radionuclides (such as Gallium-68 or Fluorine-18) to enable high-resolution positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. While primarily utilized for the detection, staging, and restaging of prostate cancer, PSMA-targeted PET ligands are increasingly being investigated for imaging non-prostatic malignancies, including primary and metastatic central nervous system (CNS) tumors, where PSMA is often highly expressed in the tumor neovasculature.
