Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Psorisome is a liposomal topical gel formulation of dithranol (also known as anthralin) developed by Lifecare Innovations in collaboration with the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Panjab University. It is approved for the treatment of chronic psoriasis. The active ingredient, dithranol, acts by inhibiting DNA synthesis and keratinocyte proliferation, which slows the abnormally rapid skin cell turnover characteristic of psoriatic plaques. The liposomal delivery system (0.5% w/w) is designed to enhance the penetration of the drug into the skin while potentially reducing common side effects associated with conventional dithranol treatments, such as perilesional skin irritation and staining.
