Overview

PT-102 is a preclinical-stage small molecule therapeutic belonging to the prodigiosin class, developed by p53-Therapeutics. It is designed to target cancers harboring mutations in the TP53 tumor suppressor gene. PT-102 acts by restoring the p53 tumor suppressor pathway, specifically by upregulating the p53 family member p73, downregulating the oncogenic N-terminally truncated isoform Delta-Np73, and disrupting the inhibitory interaction between mutant p53 and p73. This restoration of the p53 pathway induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in p53-deficient or p53-mutant cancer cells, including chemoresistant colorectal cancer stem cells, while sparing normal cells.
