Overview

PT-3 GLP-1 Agonist is an investigational drug acting as a glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonist. It mimics the endogenous incretin hormone GLP-1, which is produced in the intestines in response to food intake. By activating the GLP-1 receptor, it stimulates glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells, suppresses glucagon release, slows gastric emptying, and promotes satiety through central nervous system effects. These combined actions help lower blood glucose levels and reduce appetite, making it potentially useful for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity. The drug is under development as a novel therapeutic option within the class of GLP-1 receptor agonists.
